The Treasury Department and IRS announced yesterday that the due date for filing individual tax return has officially been extended from April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021.  

We continue to urge our clients to get their tax-related information to us as soon as possible.

Federal income tax payments for the 2020 tax year that were due April 15^th can now be postponed to May 17^th, however estimated tax payments for the first quarter of 2021 are still due on April 15^th. Additionally, this deadline postponement only applies to individual federal returns, not state returns or any other type of federal tax. State filing deadlines may not have been extended.
